Micro-algae used for bio-fuel
This month we feature two stories focused on environmental concerns: António Luís Campos published last month's National Geographic (Portugal) cover story on "Renewable Energy in Portugal". The country is one of Europe's leading nations researching technology in alternative kinds of energy production. An in-depth view on this very present subject.

We had REPRESENTED photographers, now we also have CONTRIBUTORS.

CONTRIBUTORS joined 4SEE in a way that privilege diversity and gives the opportunity to those who can´t shoot stories on a regular basis to show their work.

The first ones to arrive add a mix of experience (Mário Proença and Tsafrir Abayov) and young blood (Patrícia Moreira and Andrea Grilli).

We would like to welcome the first four of a number that will grow in the next months.

Loading cork-tree bark planks
From one of our new contributing photographers comes "The endangered cork-tree", a story shot by Mário Proença, that alerts about the risk of losing 3/4 of the area now occupied by cork-oak trees around the world. Taking into account that cork is 100% recyclable and with low energy consumption comparing with plastic and aluminium recycling, this is a tree with great economical value facing the actual energy crisis.

Azerbaijan-Georgia border
From Italy comes Andrea Grilli, one of our new photographers, and he went to unstable Georgia to report on this Caucasus country where tension and intolerance poisons the once model of democracy.

Vincentine Coast

As for travel stories goes, we have from Luís Faustino the revelation of a secret: "Southwest Portugal" is an area with one of the most unspoilt coastlines in Europe, having in desert beaches and low-pace white villages its main seductive qualities.

Chobe River in Botswana
Don't miss "Livingstone's Africa" that follows the steps of the scottish pioneer in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Pictures by Marco C. Pereira and Sara Wong.

Drinking the local way
See also "Zaragoza Travel", a feature that shows the many attractions in Expo's 2008 host city, where travellers have a choice of ancient history, a real european desert to set foot on, and the famous spanish "tapas" waiting for the gourmet. All shown in Pedro Guimarães photos.

Remote areas wait for the mailman
Other stories include "The Mailman of Castro Laboreiro" a remote area in northern Portugal, where often the only link to civilization is the mailman. Photos by Pedro Vilela

Vigil by the beach
And finally "Arte Xávega", a traditional fishing activity that consists in spreading the nets for hundreds of metres close to the beach.
