Resorts for nudists
August is synonimous to vacation in the northern hemisphere, and if you want to get free from it all (even all your cloth) why not spending your Naturist Holidays in the sunny Portuguese corner of Europe? As conditions improve with resorts and campings flourishing, desert beaches are being discovered by naked tourists. Pictures from one of our recent contributors Patricia de Melo Moreira

The new World Heritage site in Israel
Tsafrir Abayov send us from Israel a feature about the newly proclaimed Unesco World Heritage Site of the Bahai Gardens in Haifa. The 18 terraced gardens that surround the golden-domed Shrine of the Bab are the world spiritual center of the Bahai faith which emphasize the spiritual oneness of humanity and the underlying unity of the major world religions.

VIP bodyguard formation
The second of the four stories Tsafrir sent this month is about VIP Bodyguard Training in Israel. European elite security personnel is getting formation with highly professional israely doron trainers.

Drug addition rehab

One hope on drug addicts rehabilitation is Accelerated Neuro-Regulation, a method that submits the patient to an intense medically regulated withdrawal period while under anesthesia. Dr. Andre Waismann, who developed the program 10 years ago, says ANR produces a high success rate by treating drug addiction as a neurological problem and not a social and psychological problem.

Agriculture in conflict area
Agriculture in Israel has needs not common to many countries: The first Armoured Tractor in the world was conceived to withstand a full armed strike by light weapons, qassam rockets and mortar shells. Until now the tractors working the fields around Gaza were only protected against small weapons and had no manufacturer warranty.

Breeding Lusitano horses
Patricia Melo Moreira did a story on the Lusitano Horse Breeding. They're one of the rarest and most qualified horse breeds in the world. Known as being intelligent, swift, courageous and alert, they also represent a growing business to his breeders, from Europe to South America. Some of the finest studs can be found in Portugal as a result of genetic research.

Surprising shaped pottery
Serving wine from a phallus-shaped bottle or drinking from a mug with a surprise inside can be a odd experience for an outsider in Caldas da Rainha. The Portuguese town has been known for decades for its Erotic Pottery, especially its genital and satirical subjects. But there are few artisans working these days and it seems the death-knell has sounded for this well-humoured craft.

Mammoth market in Guangzhou
"Any animal whose back faces the sky can be eaten." Just before midnight at Guangzhou's Qingping market, trucks begin unloading an infinite variety of fish, shellfish, amphibians and more. Nowhere else does this popular Cantonese saying ring more true.

Europe's Cultural Ambassadors
To finish this month's stories in classic style, Mário Proença show us that beyond an orchestra’s concert, life is not as formal as the attire of its players. The inside view of the rehearsals, workshops, master-classes and backstage scenes says more about the joyful life of a 15 different nationalities group of the European Cultural Ambassadors - the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
